Programme profile
This programme is for students who realise the importance of politics and who want to deepen their knowledge of it and provides understanding of how the political system works and our place within it. Gradutes will be provided with a range of academic opportunities to develop their interests in political science as well as in a range of other disciplines.
The BSc Government combines political science with opportunities to pursue a range of subjects in business, law, modern languages, development, the social sciences and information technology.

Year 1: Politics of the European Uniion; Citizenship & Human Rights; Government & Politics of Ireland; Introduction to Political Science; Public Law; Introduction to Management & Organisation; Public & Private Management; Social Policy Analysis; Electives, including Business, Government and Language subject options
Year 2: Business Economics; Public Management; Theory & Methods in Political Science; Comparative European Government; Public Law; International Politics; Electives including Business, Government and Language subject options
Year 3; Introduction to Marketing; Market Research; Political Economy; Work Placement; Electives, including Business, Language and Government options
Year 4 - Electives from: Perspectives on Politics;,Research Project; European Framework; Global Governance; Dynamics of State Politics; Theories and Origins of Democracy and Ideology; Public Finance; Planning Policy
Entry Requirements
Students must present six subjects of which two must be at grade C or above at Advanced GCE (A-Level. Others must be at least at grade C or above on GCSE or Advanced Subsidiary GCE (AS) papers. The six subjects above must include:English, Mathematics and a language other than English.
